Clay Fall Tray-A Craft

23 Nov

Supplies: clay, water colors, a pencil, fabric or real leaves, a rolling-pin, and a workspace that will not stick to clay.

Step 1

Get a piece of clay that is about 8 inches across and 5 inches tall (depending on size of leaves.) Then put it on your workspace and keep flipping it over and rolling it out until the edges are about half an inch thick.

Step 2

Get about 3 or 4 leaves and press them down into the clay to make a design, make sure they are on the sides with the veins. Next, with the leaves still in the clay, roll over the leaves with the rolling-pin until you can see an outline of the leaf.

Step 3

After about two or three days, you can continue working on your tray. The clay should be dry, now you draw the leaves with your pencil, so you can see the outline better.

Step 4

Using your water colors, start with the yellow and paint the leaves, then add some orange, and some red. Once that paint dries, get a thin brush and paint the veins and stem in brown or gold.

Extra:

If you want to make your tray even better, wait till the paint dries and cover it with glaze.
