10 Sweet Stories That I Really Think You Should Read! (B.I.R.T.Y.S.R Volume 8)

SweetStories(Clipart from Pumpkins and Posies)

Doesn’t summer just make you want to have a big scoop of ice cream, or a swirl of frozen yogurt?  Because of that, I decided to make this month’s “Books I Really Think You Should Read” about sweets! In this post I have mixed recipe books and stories with a bit of fun sweets mixed into them to create a variety of books so that they’ll be one that I’m sure you’ll love for either the plot, or the delicious foods that they help create:)

Something New By Lisa Papademetriou, (Read my review of the first book in the series, click here.)

I love this series because of it’s likable main character and cool cupcake recipes sprinkled throughout the book, (yes, pun intended.) Plus, they all have super awesome covers complete with a fun cake creation.

The Teashop Girls by Laura Schaefer

For a debut novel, I have to say that the Teashop Girls was a very cute book that stays in your mind long after you’ve closed the back cover. The entertaining plot and characters help create an overall wonderful story. :)

Bake Sale by Sara Varon

Oh, don’t you just love adorable books? And when those books happen to be graphic novels with an even more adorable plot don’t they just have to be read over and over? In Sara Varon’s Bake Sale, you’ll be enjoying the story right there with the characters!

Slide1The Cupcake Club Series by Sheryl Berk and Carrie Berk

Although I’ve mentioned this series before, I just couldn’t leave it out of this month’s post because of their perfect plots, cute covers, and of course the series’ name. Above are four of the books, but the fourth one, Taking the Cake, doesn’t actually come out until September. Anyways, this is a super cute series with fun characters that I always look forward to.

Models Don’t Eat Chocolate Cookies by Erin Dionne

This is such a good book! With a refreshing main character and unique plot, the book comes together to create one memorable story. And if you like this book, I suggest you try out Erin Dionne’s newest one, Moxie and the Art of Rule Breaking.

A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff

I love this book. Truly, it has such a wonderful plot, (In a world where everyone has extra special talents, and a girl’s just happens to be making cakes; what could be better?) and is beautifully written, plus it has a super cool cover. :)

Pi in the Sky By Wendy Mass

Where else besides an awesome Wendy Mass book would you find pies that hold the secrets of the universe? No where of course, because this story just happens to be fun, creative, and extra special that makes you want to keep reading on.

The Secret Lives of Baked Goods by Jessie Oleson Moore

Don’t you just love having something to read while you eat something delicious? This book combines scrumptious food and stories to make a collection of sweets and their history altogether in one cookbook.

Kids BakingKids Baking from William Sonoma

This is my family’ go-to book whenever we feel the need to create something delicious. Filled with easy-to-understand recipes and colorful photos, this cookbook is perfect for both novice and expert bakers.

Tiny Treats from American Girl

Tiny treats? Yes, please! We’ve had this book for practically forever, but it still manages to impress me every time with it’s creative ideas for mini desserts. Who doesn’t want mini cereal bites that taste and look like donuts?

Anyways, I hope these books help fill the rest of your summer!
