Yay! It’s time to write about my favorite genre! I could list you hundreds of awesome fantasy stories that I love, but these are some of the best that I’ve read. Most of them are part of a series that I would definitely recommend.

Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George, now this was hard to decide on…because I LOVE all of Jessica Day George’s amazing books! (She’s such a great author!) I decided to show this story because it was part of the first series by her that I had read:) This story is really fun, and full of adventure: A perfect read for a rainy afternoon!

The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley, this is an awesome series! I finished it pretty recently, and loved it:) The first book is shown above, and I really suggest you try it. The whole series is a mix of mystery and fantasy, with quirky and likable characters!

The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler, this series is great! The first book (shown above) is my favorite, plus it has a really fun cover! They’re quick reads, but are still filled with great description and whimsical adventures!

Fairy Lies by E.D. Baker! This is actually the sequel to another book, (Fairy Wings,) but I chose to show this story because it has a more springy setting. It is based after A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and takes place in the mystical fairy kingdom. It also has outstanding characters! I love all of E.D. Baker’s books, (she’s one of my favorite authors!) and they’re perfect for anyone who loves fantasy stories as much as me:)

Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, this is a great book! The whole concept of it is really interesting, and it’s filled with suspense. You always want to keep reading! I also really like the setting of the story too, it’s filled with great detail and depth.

Whatever After, Fairest of All by Sarah Mlynowski, this book is a great spin on a classic fairy tale! In it, two kids get sucked up by a mirror in their basement, and find themselves in Snow White’s story! This leads to them stopping her from eating the poison apple, which also unfortunately messes up the whole story! It’s really cute and silly, but creative read that is filled with entertaining characters!

Liesl and Po by Lauren Oliver, this is an AMAZING piece of writing. It has wonderfully developed characters, and detailed settings. The cover is also really awesome…I don’t really know what else to say because it is so good:)

Princess For Hire by Lindsey Leavitt, this is an amazing book! It’s about a girl named Desi, who randomly answers a magical advertisement. The next thing she knows, Desi is substituting for princesses all over the world who need a quick break! She can’t believe this is happening to her, there’s all sorts of mystical elements, like the magical disguise make-up “Royal Rouge” that allows you to look just like a princess! But Desi isn’t sure if the job is actually perfect…anyways, this is such a good book! It’s full of suspense, good detail, and some fantasy! It’s a perfect read for a long weekend:)

The Sisters Grimm, The Everafter War-A Book Review

16 Jan

Almost three years ago Daphne and Sabrina Grimm’s parents were kidnapped and put under a magical sleeping spell by an evil organization called the Scarlet Hand. After dodging mean foster parents for two years they now live with their Grandma Relda and Uncle Jake in a town called Ferryport Landing. Oh yeah, by the way, that town is full of magical fairytale characters, yep those fairy tales really happened! And some of those fairytale characters are part of the Scarlet Hand (the same group that kidnapped their parents), and will do anything to kill them. But enough about that for now…

The only way to wake up their parents is a kiss, (ring any bells?) right? So here she is…Golidlocks! The sisters Grimm’s father’s former lover, (who happens to still be in love with him.) Once their parents wake up the family thinks that everything will be happily ever after!

Not so much…the Scarlet Hand is taking over the town, (with the help of deadly dragons), Prince Charming’s Everafter army (that is trying to save the town) is getting smaller by the minute, Uncle Jake’s world is turned upside down by a tragic accident, and the Grimms are about to discover one of the most shocking secrets in fairy tale history!

My Thoughts: As many of you know, I love the Sisters Grimm books!! I recently finished the series and am a little behind on reviews, but this was one of my favorite books in the series. (Spoiler!) Briar Rose’s death must have been one of the saddest in the whole series! It made me so sad because she was one of my favorite characters:( Daphne is still really adorable even in the mist of all the chaos:) Sabrina was a really good character in this book and I enjoyed reading about her. I was mad at Sabrina’s father but I understood why he wanted his family to leave the town as soon as possible. When you find out who the Master is it is so shocking!!!! (Well it would be, but I accidentally read the eighth book first:)) Overall this was an awesome book and I give it five out of five stars!

Pink Bloom PocketBac - Anti-Bacterial - Bath & Body Works

Pink Bloom Hand Sanitizer, not only do these smell awesome, they kill your germs! With all the sickness going around this is perfect, (and this one makes your hands sparkle!) I also kind of have thirteen of them:)

Bun heads, I have been catching up with this show lately, (the second part of the season has just started up.) It’s a perfect show to cuddle up in a blanket and watch, (but it’s not as good as Switched At Birth.)

Downton Abbey, I always don’t like Sundays because it’s the end of the weekend, but Downton Abbey makes it worth it! I love it so much! That’s really all that I can say to describe it because it’s just so awesome:)!

Just Dance 4 Wii Game UBISOFT

Just Dance 4, I got this game for Christmas and love it! I play it all the time, it’s fun and it’s a great workout. My favorite song to dance to would have to be Jail House Rock!

Sky Zone, I went to Sky Zone yesterday for my friend’s party, it’s so much fun!!! I love to bounce all over the trampolines, you can even jump on the walls! It’s a great workout and it’s fun!!! My favorite thing to do was play dodgeball.

The Sisters Grimm, The Unusual Suspects-A Book Review

20 Dec

The Unusual Suspects (The Sisters Grimm, Book 2) (Bk. 2)

Daphne and Sabrina Grimm have recently moved to the mysterious town of Ferry Port Landing after their parents disappeared a year and half ago leaving only a blood-red hand print behind. Now they live with their Grandmother in a town full of fairytale characters. Yep, those fairy tales really happened and now the characters  live in the same town as the Grimms. The Grimms have also have someone new in their house… the fairy boy Puck, the King of mischief, who has seemed to make it his life mission to annoy Sabrina. The Grimms now have to start school. Daphne is lucky enough to get the legendary Snow White for a teacher but luck isn’t on Sabrina’s side. She is stuck with the grouchy Mr. Grumpner who gives way too much homework. And oddly the kids in the sixth grade come to school everyday being super sleepy… It’s time for the sisters Grimm to take on their next case, which may even lead them to the person who kidnapped their parents!

My Thoughts: I have recently become obsessed with the Sisters Grimm series and read this story in two days:) I never expected any of the surprises that happened which kept me wanting to read it. This book is a little scarier then the other two I’ve read but Puck’s character kept it comical. Daphne is really cute and her hairstyles are so funny:) My favorite character is Snow White, she’s so caring and nice, and she even has her own self-defense class (the Bad Apples:)) Sabrina was very annoying in the beginning of the book but again she became easier to read about at the end. The end was very suspenseful and interesting to read about. I give this book four out of five stars for an overall good read:)

The Sisters Grimm, The Fairy Tale Detectives-A Book Review

17 Dec

Sabrina and Daphne Grimm have been in and out of crazy foster homes for almost a year and a half ever since their parents mysteriously disappeared leaving only a mysterious blood-red hand print as a clue. So, it is kind of weird when a woman claiming to be your grandmother applies to be a foster parent, after your father had already told you that she was deceased. When the girls arrive they meet their grandmother Relda and the mysterious Mr. Canis. The town of Ferryport landing isn’t all that you think it is though, the girls soon find out that they are descendents of the brothers Grimm and that the town of Ferryport landing is full of fairy tale characters, yep, those fairy tales really happened! But not everyone likes these Grimms, the only way for them to leave the town is if all the Grimms die out, and some people seem like they are willing to make sure that happens…

My Thoughts: I recently discovered this series and quickly read this one enjoying every bit of it, (even though I accidentally read the eighth book first and it gave parts away…) I really didn’t like Sabrina’s character at all in the beginning, I mean she was assuming everyone was crazy or bad, but she was easier to read about in the ending of the book. Daphne is so cute and funny with her rambunctious ways:) Puck was so annoying you just had to love him, his character also brought much-needed comedy to more suspenseful scenes. I really liked to hear about all the different jobs and businesses that the fairy-tale characters have. I kind of expected that  Jack was bad news but I never expected him to be the one behind the whole giant scheme! Prince/Mayor Charming pretended to not like the Grimms, but you can sort of tell that he has a soft spot for them. Mr. Canis is so mysterious and interesting and sometimes a little creepy but he was so quick to protect the Grimms that you could tell he was really caring, too. I give this five out of five stars for an amazing, suspenseful, funny, mystery!

Now on to reading all seven other books, (eight if you include the guide:) )
